FAQ
Questions about health checkups in Taiwan

How much does a health checkup in Taiwan cost?
The cost depends on the package, the extra tests you choose, and the travel services you need, so we give every client a personal written quote after a free call. The quote lists each item and is valid for a fixed period, and a deposit holds your clinic date.
Why go to Taiwan for a health checkup?
Taipei clinics offer hospital-grade screening, including sedated scopes, MRI and CT, with very short waiting times. Some tests that are hard to get in North America, such as pepsinogen stomach-cancer screening, are standard there. Vantage Bridge arranges everything from Canada so you have one team to deal with.
Who performs the screening?
All tests are performed and reported by licensed physicians and technicians at our partner clinic in Taipei. Vantage Bridge coordinates your care and travel; we do not provide medical advice ourselves.
Will I have to deal with a language barrier?
No. Everything we send you is in English, an English-speaking escort accompanies you on clinic day, and live medical interpretation is available during physician consultations. Your results are explained to you in English.
How long do I need to be in Taiwan?
Most screening is completed in one clinic day. We usually plan around three nights in Taipei so you have time to arrive, rest, and recover from any sedation. Many clients add a few days to travel around Taiwan.
Do Canadians need a visa for Taiwan?
Canadian passport holders can currently visit Taiwan visa-free for short stays. Entry rules can change, so please check the latest requirements with Taiwan's Bureau of Consular Affairs before you book flights.
Is the colonoscopy or gastroscopy sedated?
Yes. Scopes are done under sedation, and when you have both they are done in the same session so you only recover once. Your escort stays with you afterwards, and you should not drive for the rest of the day.
How do I prepare for my checkup?
We send written instructions before you travel. Most clients fast overnight before clinic day, and anyone having a colonoscopy follows a low-residue diet and bowel preparation the day before. A low-residue prep meal pack can be arranged in Taipei.
When do I get my results?
Some findings are discussed on clinic day. Your full report follows after you return home, and a physician then explains it to you in English. We help you share results with your family doctor and arrange any follow-up.
Is this covered by my provincial health plan or insurance?
Elective screening abroad is usually not covered by provincial health plans. Some private and employer health plans reimburse part of the cost, so check with your insurer. We can provide itemised documents for a claim.
Can my partner or family come with me?
Yes. Couples and families often travel together, and each person can have their own package. Tell us on your call and we will plan the trip for everyone.
Which tests should I choose?
That is what the free call is for. We ask about your age, family history, symptoms and goals, then suggest the tests that are useful for you. You can also browse every available test on our site before the call.
